Since the spectator area is covered, you can watch the show even on rainy or snowy days. In addition, an indoor pool is located next to the show pool, so you can see the dolphins swimming freely indoors. In winter or during inclement weather, the show may be held in the indoor pool. At Penguin Coast, a penguin interpretation show is held twice daily. It’s a fun way to learn about their ecology and natural habitat while enjoying their adorable antics. The tank recreates the sound of waves with artificial rocks and wave generators to simulate the real sea. A tunnel runs beneath the tank, giving you the feeling of strolling underwater.

In addition, on a sloping area, fish that inhabit the shallow sea are displayed. In the adjacent area, environments such as the Kuroshio/Tsushima Current and the habitat of the Shinano River are recreated, along with a mesmerizing jellyfish corner. In front of the large tank, a daily explanation about the Japan Sea Large Tank is held. At Marine Safari, daily feeding demonstrations are held where you can watch the walruses eat while learning about their physiology. There’s also a performance where the sea lions touch the caretaker’s hand with their flipper-like feet, showcasing their cleverness. In the wetland environment, endangered freshwater fish such as Kitano medaka, Akahire Tabira, and Hotokedojō are on display. Additionally, within the area, there is a Field Small Box containing specimens of plants and fruits collected from the zone, offering a chance to observe plant ecology.
