Let’s try having breakfast outdoors like a Taiwanese! Da’an Recommended Breakfast Spots
1. Yonghe Soy Milk King
Popular with both locals and tourists is Yonghe Soy Milk King, where lines often form. A breakfast menu popular among Taipei locals is "xian doujiang," a savory, warm soy milk. There are slight variations from shop to shop. This shop adds shredded dried radish and minced meat, seasoned with soy sauce, vinegar, and sesame oil. It is recommended to dip the "you tiao," a long fried bread, into this.
Many people also eat heartily from the morning, including daikon cakes and xiaolongbao. Crispy pastries like a flaky dough or baked flatbreads with roasted pork or egg, or a thin flatbread with you tiao and rolled omelet, known as "mo tiao jia dan," are also popular menu items. The busiest time is, of course, the morning, so if you go a little later, it is relatively easier to get in.
2. Sihai Soy Milk King
Sihai Soy Milk King is also a popular soy milk shop, and it is located very near the "Yonghe Soy Milk King" introduced earlier. Basically, the menu at any soy milk shop is almost the same. However, the saltiness of the savory soy milk and its light, fluffy texture differ from shop to shop. Eating meat buns ("rou bao") or chive dumplings ("jiu cai bon") from the morning will surely give you energy. Although the menu is almost the same at every soy milk shop, the trendier shops serve freshly fried, hot, crispy you tiao, making popular shops very attractive.
Crepe-like dan bing filled with eggs, bacon, and various other ingredients is also a popular menu. And if you drink hot or iced soy milk of your choice with it, you have a Taiwanese-style breakfast. Please try out various menu items.

3. Full Want
Next, let’s introduce a trendy breakfast. It is a sandwich shop that is among the breakfast options for Taiwanese. The thin bread, grilled on a large iron plate at the entrance, filled with crepe-like rolled ingredients or various hot sandwiches, is popular. Some even have a hot sandwich made with mochi. The chocolate banana hot sandwich is an unexpected combination but is reputed to be delicious. Just looking at the abundant menu will make you excited.
The location is behind "SOGO" near MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, in a quiet office district. When you get near, you can immediately tell by the crowd of people. It opens at 7:00 in the morning, but since it is in an office district, it closes in the evening on weekdays. Please be careful with the time when you visit.

4.Yi Liu Qing Congee & Small Dishes (Congee Alley)
Finally, let’s introduce a congee shop. Congee has a strong image as a breakfast food, but in Taiwan, it is mostly eaten as a late-night snack. Therefore, shops that serve congee are mostly open from the evening until early morning. Occasionally, there are shops that are open 24 hours or open from before noon. The system is almost the same: you choose your favorite items from a plentiful array of side dishes to go with a light, refillable congee, and the staff will reheat it for you.
For those who want to enjoy congee and side dishes as breakfast, Yi Liu Qing Congee & Small Dishes is recommended. It opens from 11:00, making it perfect for a late breakfast. Some shops are open until 6:00 in the morning, so if you wake up early, it’s also a good option. The location is in Congee Alley between MRT Da’an Station and MRT Keji Building Station.
